resolution problem with slider

Just had a wordpress site built by savage solutions who abandoned the project before completing it. Payed for a responsive theme but did not get it (Redux).

When I look at the home page at 1900×1200 it looks great. At 1024 x 768 the large sllider at the top of the page goes all the way down to the fold and fills the whole screen from side to side.
