ReSmush.it and Postie plugin

    ReSmush.it (V0.4.1) enabled on my WP site. This is an image optimizer and originally installed to handle media library issues when v large images (e.g >3Mb) uploaded into the media library.

    When trying to process a single email (one image c. 200Kb and small amount of text), the Postie process seems to hang and the blog entry is not created. Instead, several tmptitle draft blog entries created instead. Email not deleted from mailbox (which I am happy about).

    Disabling the ReSmush.it plugin allows the Postie plugin to complete successfully.

    Not entirely sure why the interaction between the two plugins is causing problems but will post this in both the ReSmush.it and Postie forums to raise awareness.

    Debug Log of successful and unsuccessful Postie runs available if required.

    Update – may have found a possible solution:

    After reporting an issue (libgomp failing to create a thread) to my ISP, they did some testing and added the following to my root .htaccess file:

    RLimitNPROC max max
    RlimitMEM Max
    RLimitCPU Max

    At the time ReSmush.it was deactivated but Postie was failing to complete processing (running every 2 hours over an extended period of about 24 hours) and resulting in the following messages in the error log (not all shown for the 24 hour period):

    Also, on each failed run, the correct image was loaded into the image library and a blank draft post (tmptitle) created.

    After the amendment of the .htaccess file, this seemed to cure the problem. Have just retried a couple of posts with ReSmush.it activated, and not had any issues.
