    To whom it may concern,

I hope this finds you well. I am trying to speed up my website by decreasing the sizes of images. Within the regular WordPress insert image block, I have the option to choose the image size. I typically select large instead of full.

I’m noticing that within my Essential Addons image accordion and filterable gallery widgets, the image sizes are far larger than that able to be displayed by the widget.

I’m wondering if it is possible to resize images, or select the image size to be displayed in an image accordion or filterable gallery, from within the settings pages of their respective widgets.

If this is not possible, I will manually resize the images and then link the smaller image sizes to the widgets.

Thank you very much for your time, I appreciate it and wish you the best,

    Hello @dorywe ,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the late response.

Well, Unfortunately, we don’t have that feature right now. It is always recommended to use resized and light images for these kinds of widgets. For now, you need to do it manually. However, Thank you for your suggestion and it would help us to improve our plugin.

    Have a great day.

    Hi @sadmansakibnadvi,

Thank you very much for letting me know and your quick reply, I appreciate it!

Sounds good, that is fine. It will be quick to resize them. Yes an idea for the future – or even a pro feature. Maybe by default, all images could have a 1024×1024 resize option, as I imagine this will be sufficient for most images used in these widgets.

I do see though how this might be problematic for users who wish to enable a light box option and want to see the images displayed in higher resolution.

Maybe if it is possible an image could be rendered when the page loads in a smaller form, such as 1024×1024 or 480×480 depending on the user’s preferences, and then the original image size could be loaded when a user clicks on the image. By only rendering the full size on click, the load time on click will be relatively short if the image is already optimized (say to 200kb max), and then the page will load faster by delivering smaller images if unclicked. Kind of like an extension of lazy load.

Thank you very much again for your time and reply, I appreciate it and wish you the best,

    Dory
