Resized images much bigger than original ones

    i have exactly same problem as stated here:

    I manually compress photos on computer, and than upload them to wordpress and their size is larger than original.
    example, i compressed all my portfolio photos to be between 200-300kb. and when i upload it, each photos has on wordpress at least 400kb.

    i have website to showcase portfolio, therefore the pic has to have decent quality and small size.
    because of wordpress, i score bad in google console and because of the photos it takes 3 scond more to load page…. [and note, my portfolio is not that big!]

    I also definitely DO NOT WANT TO DOWNLOAD ANY PLUG IN.

    anyone any solution please?
