• I know that you can re-size images right in WordPress, but does that clutter up my database?

Say, I have a too big image that I uploaded to my WP. Now I resize it and the image gets smaller (as I need it).

The question is if WP still stores the big image in my database?

  • Images are not stored in the database, they are stored as files in wp-content/uploads

Don’t offhand know the answer, but if you have view capability to the files eg FTP, you could try editing one one and see how this affects the folder size.

I tend to re-size before uploading.
