  • I’ve got the same problem with this. If I upload a pictures with the dimension 1500×1500 px (300dpi, 2,1 MB) for example, the file-size does not change after the upload. Is there a way to do decrease the file size?

Same problem here – 300DPI images are not resized at all :/

Sorry Sam, this slipped through the cracks and I just saw it when andrejm posted his comments.

First of all, the DPI of an image is irrelevant for screens. All that matters is the total pixels/resolution.

At any rate, that image is 1800×1200, which is smaller than the default dimensions in Imsanity. However, 2MB is rather large, and not at all normal for an 1800×1200 image. So, my question (for all of you) is what quality level you have set?

Finally, the only way Imsanity reduces the file size is if the image gets reduced. Imsanity is not a compression plugin, it is for resizing the dimensions only. If you want image compression, I recommend you use a proper image optimization plugin like EWWW Image Optimizer or Imagify (those are the ONLY two I ever recommend).

@nosilver4u thanks for your detailed answer! However, I still can’t quite understand why the plugin doesnt resize this particular file (and some others that are 300 dpi):

Well, now as I look at it in media gallery, I see the size info is missing, it only shows this information (sorry for the language, but you can probably guess)

    Názov súboru: M_08.jpg
    Typ súboru: image/jpeg
    Nahrané: 10. apríla 2018
    Ve?kos?: 22 MB

    Could this be the culprit?

I tried with the Deep Scan option on and off, still no luck. Every max width/height setting is on 1280, the image above is 6016×4016 and it is attached to a post even.

@andrejm, check to see if the thumbnails are being created for your images, plus there should be a medium, medium_large, and medium_large version of every image you upload. If those don’t exist, and you just have the original, then your issue is most likely that PHP is missing image libraries. It needs either GD or Imagick to resize images. If you don’t know how to check on that, ask your webhost and they’ll get your site straightened out.

Didnt check the libraries yet, but thats a good clue. Thanks!

I was finally able to follow up on a potential bug in the scanner, and I believe some of you are being affected by this bug, as it prevents the scanner from finding pretty much anything useful. This bug does not impact new uploads, only the image scanner on the settings page.
