Resize but keep same image quality

  • Hi, I see the settings have a default set of image sizes and image quality. Is there any way to keep the same quality and only resize?

    Hi Sergio,

    Unfortunately, that’s impossible. Well, sort of… The quality value isn’t usually stored in an image anywhere, so while there are tricks to “guess” what quality was used on an image, they can be wildly inaccurate, especially as different tools use different quality scales.

    In any case, Imsanity doesn’t have anything that would allow you to dynamically change the quality even if you built your own quality detection routine.

    Couldn’t Imagick::getImageCompressionQuality or Imagick::getCompressionQuality do this?

    Those only guess the quality, so maybe… But the resulting value could be wildly inaccurate if the images weren’t originally compressed with ImageMagick.
