• I was testing out the “Forgot Password” function of my site. The “Forgot Password?” link is fine. It asks me to input an email address and click “Reset Password”. However, upon clicking nothing happens. It doesn’t redirect anywhere, and no emails for resetting the password are sent.

Everything else seems to work fine. Users can create accounts and change passwords from within their accounts, but they cannot reset their passwords from the login bar at the top of the page. I’m worried for users that may forget their passwords in the future.

If anyone can find the problem, it’d be much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Hey cloudlace,

There’s a few suggestions on this forum, other forums suggest reaching out to your web host to verify that your email router is working okay and you didn’t get on spam list. Your web host may be a great resource for getting your domain off any spam list, if that ends up being the culprit.

If you did get on a spam list, are worried that your site may have been infected, or in general just want a free way to make sure your site doesn’t get infected, I strongly suggest installing the WordFence plugin and running a scan. I use it on every site I administer. Run a search for it in your plugins page. Bruteprotect (included with Jetpack as Protect, but a good standalone if you don’t want to use Jetpack) is another good one to add to that mix.

    Hope this is helpful!

    Hello Tyler,

Thank you very much for your reply! I really appreciate it. The web host has been the source of various other outgoing things being blocked on our site, so this would make sense. I had thought it wouldn’t be that this time since clicking the button didn’t even redirect or show any change.

Thank you for your advice! I’ll get in touch with the host first and see if that’s the problem.

Too late. It already happened to me. Now I’m in a panic because launch date is coming up, and I can’t get in.

It never sent the emails to change the password. So my hoster reset it, and now it’s saying the password is incorrect.

    I can’t log in!
