• Hi, I’m really hoping someone can help me. The ‘Lost your password’ link on my websites main login page is broken. It’s redirecting users back to the homepage instead of to my password reset page. I have no idea what has caused this issue and have spend the last two hours trying to find a solution! I’m not good with coding so if anyone is able to help with step by step instructions to get the link fixed or alternatively with a plugin that allows me to ‘customise’ the link I would be massively grateful. The url to my login page is https://officerofthewatch.co.uk/wp-login.php

    Thanks in advance.

  • Try disabling the AG Custom Admin, and OneAll.com Social Login for WordPress plugins.

If you can’t log in, you can do this by:

    1. Accessing the FTP for your website (if you don’t know how, ask your host)
    2. Navigating to: /wp-content/plugins/
    3. Deleting or moving the folders which contain the plugins mentioned above

Once you’re able to disable these plugins, try again and see if the problem has been fixed. If so, one of these plugins is the culprit.

I deactivated both plugins but neither of them appear to be causing the issue. When I removed the social login it just removed the ability to log into the site via social media. The lost password link was still set to the homepage.

I’ve reactivated them now so that there is no impact on users logging into the site.

Also I’ve just tried reinstalling WordPress to see if that would restore whatever core file is powering the page but it’s also not resolved the issue.

Issue solved! After a number of hours I found this site https://deonvandervyver.com/changing-the-forgot-password-url-on-wordpress-multisite-blogs/

I advised the lines of code to change in wp-login.php which resolves the issue. I’ve still got no clue what caused the problem in the first place.
