    Hey, thanks for the questions.

The Pro version lets you set the order number to anything higher than the current highest order number. It does this so as to avoid duplicate order numbers, and with the assumption that once an order number is assigned, it cannot be changed. However, a way around this is simply to permanently delete all orders and then you can start from any number desired.

The order number might start at 300 or any random number, because by default WooCommerce uses the WordPress post ID as the order number. So if you have lots of posts, pages, and other things already, they will cause your order numbers to start high and/or have gaps.

The plugin does not support the ability to create an invoice number, that would have to be done with something else

    ok thank you,

actually I would start at number “1” when site is live.

Why ? if the order num (= inv num) is e.g. at 350, how can I explain to Tax authorities that there is no paid invoices before 350 … weird .. no?

    thanks

Can you please explain “The plugin does not support the ability to create an invoice number, that would have to be done with something else”
A deleted order may affect my invoices number, you probably know that we cannot have a break in invoice number.
So if the order num is different as order number it will be nice !

    Hey oligou,

if you’re just dealing with test orders, then that’s great, you can simply delete them prior to going live, and install the sequential order numbers pro version and start at “1”.

So the plugin simply allows you to have a sequential set of order numbers generated as orders are placed. If you have say the following orders placed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and then you delete 3, even with the plugin you’d have a gap now from 2 to 4 since once an order number is set it can’t be changed (with the plugin). If you wanted a separate sequence of “invoice numbers” you’d need some other plugin in addition to provide this

    Hopefully that makes sense,

    thanks,

If an order is deleted for any reason (customer did not paid if we use payment transfer ipo credit card). this order number continue to exist. That’s ok and normal !

But we will have a missing number in the invoices !

so I clearly not undestand why woo has based the invoices number and order number … has someone met this issue ?
You probably talking only about your plugin, which is fine ! but everything is in connexion ??

    thanks again
