Reset Compression Metadata?

Is there some way to reset the compression metadata?
I compressed all my images, but then used Regenerate Thumbnails because I wanted a smaller thumbnail size. It doesn’t look like these thumbnails were compressed, because the metadata instructed the plugin not to run, since it thought all of the sizes were already compressed for all of my images.
Or, if this isn’t a quick thing to do, is there some way to force re-compress all of the thumbnail sized images?
