Requiring users to input code prior to saving?

Is there a way to easily incorporate an input box that has the user use the 2FA app on their device to make sure that they have configured their device correctly prior to saving to their profile?

In other words, I want to prevent users from setting 2fa on the site if they do not have the app properly configured on their phone/device. Otherwise they might click “active” on 2fa and then not be able to log in and that could cause a ton of headaches.
