Installed this plugin just now on my PHP 7.4 website and ran the plugin compatibility check. This says that the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin’s Highest supported PHP is 5.6. All credibility lost. Have uninstalled.

As a tool for WordPress users of WordPress version 4.0 or newer, the plugin will contain special code intended to run on older systems. The drawback to this is that static code analysis tools are unable to distinguish between backwards compatible code, and modern code.

The plugin is developed, and tested, using PHP 7.4 (the version of PHP as recommended by WordPress core).

Thanks for your polite response to my somewhat grumpy comment. I think I see what you mean, but perhaps it would be helpful to include some warning that the reported “highest supported PHP” for the plugin itself should be ignored? (Sorry if you already do and I missed it!)

I think you’re misinterpreting what is says. “PHP Version: 5.6 or higher” – not “highest supported”. It means that the version of PHP required to run the plugin must be 5.6 or higher.
