    Hi,

in my oppinion it is not clear if customer is filling out the input fields what is a required field and what is not.

So all required field should be marked with a “*”.

In my case “Recipient E-mail” ist NOT a required field…but that′s not obvious for the customer.

How can I mark required fields with a “*”?

    https://testshop.golfball-uhu.de/produkt/gift-card/

Regarding the “message field”: in my case I use max 200 letters…If I max this out and use 205 letters there′s at first no sign/error message that I did wrong….only if I click into another field the message frame get′s red….but there′s no message for the customer what he did wrong…this might confuse them…so if the max letters are 200 it should not be possible to use more letters or there needs to be a clear error message what is wrong.

    Regards

For now I see no problem on my site, replicating with the same process in this video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kTHQIcruIVghlZHGJcl4BeV2UxlwmESP/view?usp=sharing

Since we have not been able to replicate it on our end. This suggests that it might be a conflict with another theme or plugin installed on your site.

Typically, we see issues like these are caused by a conflicting plugin or theme installed on the site. In order to troubleshoot this further, would you mind taking the following steps?:

    – Temporarily switch to one of the default themes, I recommend?Storefront, to ensure that this isn’t a theme compatibility issue. Once you switch themes, does everything function as expected?

    – If not and we can rule out the theme compatibility issue, we also recommend deactivating all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if this resolves the issue at that point. If it does, then you would need to activate each plugin, one at a time, to see if you can find the conflicting extension/plugin.

Of course, you’ll want to backup your site content before making any changes, and you could always duplicate the site for testing purposes if you don’t want to interrupt the live site.

    I hope this helps!

I think I figured it out…the problems seems to be the settings of the gift card product.

I unchecked the field: Required recipient email

and used afterwards another mail-adress….but the coupon code seems to be attached to the mail adress I ordered the gift card….right!? Or in the end I have to use the Required recipient email.

But that makes no sense …at least my idea was …I want to buy the gift card as a present….so I want to surprise a loved one/friend etc. with the gift card….I buy it and then give the printout…or the mail or just the coupon code to the recipient…so he/she can use it.

But that seems not to be possible because the gift card ist attached to a mail adress!?

    Hi,

By “I unchecked the field: Required recipient email”, perhaps you meant this option: https://nimb.ws/2pTbGls

If it’s about this option, then only the gift card receiver address can use the coupon: https://nimb.ws/KrMnSV7

So when you buy a gift card for a friend, and you enter the friend’s email address to the recipient field, then only they can use the coupon. It’s verified against against customer’s billing email, they add their email to the billing address and that would be it.

    Hi,

“By “I unchecked the field: Required recipient email”, perhaps you meant this option:?https://nimb.ws/2pTbGls“…YES!

“So when you buy a gift card for a friend, and you enter the friend’s email address to the recipient field, then only they can use the coupon. It’s verified against against customer’s billing email, they add their email to the billing address and that would be it.”…..yes….but if I use the mail address of a friend…then were′s the surprise? He/she will get a mail with the coupon code….but that′s not what I want. This should only be a option.

It is totally normal in germany to buy a coupon code in a shop for a friend (without giving away his/here mail adress…which seems by the way not really DSGVO/GDPR compliant). …and give the friend the coupon code….his/here mail address does not matter to reddem the coupon code.

If the coupon code is NOT redeemable without a mail address, then it is of no use for me.

Is it even possible to redeem the voucher without it being linked to an email address? In the end…that′s the reason why I unchecked the field: Required recipient email”. I don′t want the coupon code attached/linked to a mail address by option.

    Do you understand what I mean…what I want…what I need?

As far as I understand, uncheck the “Email restrictions” checkbox resolve the issue and it also fulfills your need that a coupon is not attached to a specific email address to be used. I guess it’s okay for now?

I supposed you want a coupon that can be used regardless of the recipient’s email, then unchecking that option would be sufficient. Is there anything else you need for the coupon?

    Thread Starter golfball-uhu

    (@golfball-uhu)

No…I guess it′s not! Did you not read my last mail????

“I supposed you want a coupon that can be used regardless of the recipient’s email, then unchecking that option would be sufficient.”…well…unchecking it did work so well that I could not use the coupon code at all….I guess I find another plugin….these discussion id killing my nerves!…JESUS!

I’m sorry if I misunderstand you. It just confused me when you said “I figured it out…the problems seems to be the settings of the gift card product.

The problem you reported was “I used the direkt link for coupon in the mail (browser chrome) put product into cart…voucher was applied directly….but I did not checkout…changed to Firefox browser…was able to use the coupon in cart but could not checkout because of already used coupon code!?” Which I can’t replicate on my site, as we discussed, no matter the steps I took. So I suggested running a full conflict test. But then you said you figured it out, therefore I just assume it resolved your problem based on your previous message.

However, it seems that unchecking this option made the coupon unusable, which is not the intended behavior, and I’m sorry if I misunderstood your situation. But I can’t find any info in your previous messages where you encountered this issue or how it behaves and it confuses me “well…unchecking it did work so well that I could not use the coupon code at all

When I said “So when you buy a gift card for a friend, and you enter the friend’s email address to the recipient field, then only they can use the coupon. It’s verified against against customer’s billing email, they add their email to the billing address and that would be it.” I was just explaining what that option does. The purpose of that option is to restrict coupon usage to the recipient’s email. If that’s not what you want, you can totally uncheck it to allow the coupon to be used by anyone.

At this point, I’m not sure what the issue you faced after unchecking that option. But I understand your decision to move on. Thank you for trying our plugin. And I’m sorry for any difficulties.

The whole “You said… then I said… then you said” thing is pointless.

We’ve been writing back and forth for weeks now… I have no idea what I wrote 5 weeks ago.

All I want is: the voucher should NOT be tied to an email address… usable by anyone who has it.

It would have been enough for me if you had simply told me the necessary settings for this.

Yes, you’re right. I’m sorry all the confusion. I should have told you the option “Email restrictions” from the start.

    Hi,

me again. Plugin is running now good.

The only thing that really bothers me is the fact that partial redemption is not possible. Other plugins can do that (Flexible PDF Coupons…WooCommerce PDF Voucher…PDF Product Vouchers etc). Are you thinking about making that possible in the future?

    Best regards

Thank you for texting back. So, as far as I understand, you want the cardholder to be able to use a portion of the gift card balance for a purchase, leaving the remaining balance for future use.

If that’s the feature you’re looking for, I’m afraid it’s not supported at the moment. our gift cards works similarly to WooCommerce coupons, and they’re all one-time use. We understand that this feature is available in some other plugins, but as of now, it is not part of our plugin’s functionality.

We appreciate your suggestion and will keep it in mind for future updates. If you have any other questions or need assistance, please let us know!

    Hi,

I know that is not supported at the moment. That′s why I was asking if that′s a possible future update. Because it is customer friendly…and we are doing it for the customer…right :-)?

Another question which is driving me crazy….how would I get some text within the brackets with the number of letters can be used for the recipient message?

My message length limit is 200 letters….at the frontend the customer can see “message” (200 )….but for the number 200 there should be a description what it means…like (200 letters maximum).

Where could I enter these words so that they are within the brackets?
