Requesting Recommendations or Advice Choosing a Theme/Framework

Hello WordPress users! I am new to WordPress and am looking for some recommendations and/or advice for choosing a theme/framework for the new site I am building for work. (TL;DR at the bottom)

I have *some* experience programming, however it mostly consisted of a computing for engineers course I took in college (MATLAB and Python.) I am using Media Temple as my host.

A few details about what kind of site I am building:

1. It is an online store for a relatively small fashion line.

2. We have a fairly large selection of products each of which come in multiple colors.

3. The products are to be separated into 8 categories (New Arrivals, Collections, Travel, Handbags, etc.) with subcategories for each.

4. For navigation we want the 8 categories to be displayed and accessible beneath the header. In addition to this, I also want the categories to be accessible via a sidebar on the left that would also display the subcategories when a category is selected (similar to accessing a folder and scrolling through the files in the folder.)

5. For each category I want to be have one large featured image with smaller images displaying a featured image for each of the subcategories. These should have the name of the subcategory and be clickable links to the page of that subcategory.

6. For each product we wish to display a large image of the product with smaller images of the item in different color options displayed in the white space within the image that can be selected and displayed as the larger image without navigating to a separate page.

I have a .pdf of the wireframe (43 pages) that gives an idea of what they want as far as basic layout. When scrolled through it gives an idea of how they want the site to work.
