Requested URL not found on server

  • New to WordPress, first website I’m setting up. I feel really, really stupid asking this question, I feel like it’s real day 1 stuff I’ve messed up.

    I installed WordPress, successfully. At least it said successfully. Now I can access the Dashboard, but when I try to go to my website I get :

    The requested URL /defaultsite was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    index.php is in the public_html directory…what am I missing here? I appreciate any help.
