I have several pages for my website that are saved in draft form with visibility set to public because I do not want them to appear on the front page of my website, but rather I use the URLs as hyperlinks within the text on other pages.

After installing WordPress v. 4.3.1 all the unpublished pages were automatically published. I have since returned them to draft form with the visibility set to public, but when I click the link I am taken to a page that says: “Not Found. The requested URL was not found on this server. Apache Server at https://www.mysite.com Port 80”

saved in draft form with visibility set to public….

That’s a contradiction; you simply can’t do that.

Drafts are unpublished posts, visible to no one except the logged in editor.

Public visibility means the published posts don’t require a password or be logged in to view, like password or private posts.

You thought you were seeing draft posts on the site as published because you were logged in and editing them.
