Request: Wrapper for image

I’d like to add some additional styling and pseudo-elements to the image.
Would it be possible to have the image inside of a span tag wrapper, in your next version? It would be very useful.

A span is added if I use a hover image, but I don’t use one. Perhaps the span can always be added, but it only gets the css class “menu-image-hover-wrapper” if there’s a hover image? However you want to do it is good.
