    Hi,

I use the plugin with much satisfaction.

However i found very annoying the fact that there is not an option to delete “phisically” the original file i’m going to replace.

Over the time i’ve accumulated many “old” images (wich are versions of the same image)

and so i have to manually clean up my unused image.

So i would ask to an option to replace AND delete the image

preserving the original name / link / reference of the deleted image.

I would gladly make a donation for your effort ??

    Thank you

    Hi tlenl,

I’m not sure I understand your request. Our plugin is already doing that, and that’s where the name of the plugin comes from ??

We replace the old image with the new image, and that means removing the old image. We also warn about this on the plugin: https://i.imgur.com/RTiBbRc.png

If that’s not what you meant, could you please elaborate?

    Thank you!

Well. in this case I have a problem pheraps? ??

    I make an example.

I upload an image in the libray. I attach the image to a post.

Next i want to replace the image in the post with a new one

so i select, then replace, then “Upload” and the new image

is uploaded in the library, replaced in the post

BUT the old image is still present in the library (althougt not linked anywhere).

In the library i have 2 images. The old one, and the “replaced” one.

    Was I able to explain?

    Hi tlenl,

Yes, now I understand. The “Replace” button you are clicking is actually from WordPress. It is not added by our plugin. If you want to replace the image and delete the old one with our plugin, you have to use it through one of these links:

    What?? Really??? Ehehe

    That’s so funny! Ok!

At this point, could I suggest to integrate the “Replace” button in the editor

with a “your” Replace button that does both thing (replace in the post, and replace in the media library)?

This new button could coexist with the default one (for ex. called “Replace & Delete”).

Because it is more straightforward to work inside the post, instead of replace in the media and after check the post.

    Hi tlenl,

At first glance, we think this could lead to more disadvantages than advantages. Introducing a new button similar to the WordPress default button would most likely lead to many complaints, as people are already used to a certain behavior, even if the button has a different name.

In our experience, the replacement action is also performed outside of the post, as the plugin is mainly used to replace old images that need updating.

In any case, we’ll definitely keep an eye on this and if there is enough demand, we’ll think about implementing the feature.

And thank you for your feedback!

    Hi Gerard,

    I get your point. Ok!
