Request new features and comments on bugs

  • First I want to thank the creator of the Plugin. It is amazing. Very practical. so usefull!

    I wanted to suggest two new features: automatic publishing also when the post is scheduled. In the tests I’m doing with two sites, if the post does not go up immediately, publishing by scheduling does not create the post on Instagram.

    The second is the use of excerpt (or the first paragraph of the post) as description (or text) of the post in Instagram …

    I noticed some bugs too: even if the name of the author does not appear, it is published in Instagram.

    Even though the title words are not used as hashtags, they do have hashtags.

    The inclusion of fixed topics (hashtags, description, etc.) in the configuration area has no effect at the time of publication.

    Resizing image does not always work. Often Instagram refuses formats.

    There is indeed a problem with the exif … If active, the refusal rate for posts is higher.

    Thanks for all those feedbacks.

    A new version is under preparation that will fix almost all upload errors. They are monstly due to using an old version of the Instagram-API.

    Same thing for resizing, and refused formats by Instagram.

    Excellent idea to add excerpt from the article post, it can be the 1st paragraph, or some words between 0 and XXX. I will try to implement that in a future version of the plugin.

    Regarding the title as hashtags, this is also fixed in the developpement version.

    There is already an option to remove the exif, if they cause too many refusal by Instagram, but it is also because in actual version of the plugin we use an obsolete version of the Instagram-API. This is fixed in the developpement version ( 1.5.0) that will be relaesed soon.

    That’s really nice to hear. I like that development goes on and this plugin improves. I also would be very happy to see the blog article’s excerpt in the instagram post as subtext, so it’s easier for the people to classify what they are seeing and what’s the topic of the post.

    New version 1.5.1 just came out today, including the new feature that you asked. You can now use an excerpt (you also have the possibility to choose the number of words in the excerpt) or the tesx of your post

    One question (or two *g*): How long will the excerpt be (how many characters or words) if I give no limitation? Is the standard WordPress excerpt method used then? I mean the same excerpt length like it is in my WordPress blog?

    If no limitation is set, the number of words is 0, so you need to set your own limitation.

    And yes it is the same worpdress function ( wp_trim_words ) that is used to do the excerpt.
