• I’ve just installed wp-piwik and it is excellent, but there is one feature of Piwik I don’t like – the opt-out form. It would be nice to have a short-code which shows just an opt-out check-box and label, allowing the user to add whatever text and styling they want. This may mean ignoring the Piwik implementation completely and adding a new cookie for the purpose, which would remove the tracking code from the footer.

I don’t think that it would be a good idea to replace Piwik’s own opt-out cookie. To everybody reading here: How do you think about this?

But you can try to change the form’s style in Piwik. Just open piwik/plugins/CoreAdminHome/templates/optOut.tpl and have a look at its content. This is a German article containing an example: https://www.fene-blog.de/webdesign/piwik-iframe-optout-style-anpassen/

Note: This is a core change. Backup your changes before you update Piwik, so you can restore them after updating.

This also discussed as a feature here, so I hope there will be a more comfortable way to change the form soon:

Thanks for this advice. From looking at the template I realised that the simplest way to change the text is to edit the appropriate entries in the language files (piwik/lang/en.php for me). But I dislike hacking core files, because of the update issue that you raised. Perhaps this is an issue for Piwik rather than the WP plugin.
