Request: Add {date} as option for custom HTML

I found that I wanted to separate the date from the comments programmatically, and I had wanted to remove the “posted on” text from the date. I think making {date} parse-able just like {comments} (where it only outputs the data, no superfluous markup) would be awesome.

It would also be cool to be able to change the date format manually a la the wp-admin/options-general.php page. In particular, I had wanted to use a three-letter month (M j, Y).

I’m willing to make this change myself and submit a patch if you’re open to the idea. Let me know!
