Request ability to configure Media Library location

I am hoping consideration will be given to bringing back the option of configuring the directory location for Media Library. I understand that feature was removed in 3.5, but would be a valuable one to bring back.

Please allow me to explain one of my main reasons. I back up several of the sites I maintain to my PC. Since my PC is also backed up, it does not make sense to backup large static files over and over. To make backups easier, I adopted a directory structure starting with “als” (All Large Static) in web root. Under als I have “audio” for audio files, “video,” etc. and I would like to have “Media Library.” Being able to specify folders (for organization) in Media Library (as others have requested) would also be very useful.

Then to select the files to backup, all I have to do is click on “wp-admin” do Ctrl-Shift-End to select everything from there down and download those files (I use FileZilla).
