    Hi,

I’m curious if something like this is possible…

I’m rebuilding client’s site almost from the scratch (new theme, updated layout, data cleanup), but the pages content should stay the same. Because of the bloated database I decedided not to migrate the whole site but I used the page import including the images.

On the original site there was ShortPixel installed and images were backuped.

On the new site the images were imported with the same names, but without the backup folder (as I would expected). I’ve tried to copy the content of the backup folder to the new destination, but the restore backup option for the old images hasn’t showed up (for the newly uploaded images it workes fine).

So here is my question: is it possible to restore the backup functionality this way? Or is it impossible, because there are no records in the ShortPixel DB table for those imported images?

    Thanks
    Petr

    Hey Petr,
    thanks for your question.

If ShortPixel hasn’t any DB records it cannot restore the images.
But a workaround would be to just copy the files in the backup folder (keeping the folder structure, of course) over the optimized files and then run again ShortPixel.
This way the images will be optimized again but without the risk of over optimizing them and there will also be DB records for the future.

    Hope this helps,
    Alex
