We use WS forms for contact forms on lots of sites and the email notifications are always set to reply to the person who submitted the form not the sending address of the form. Normal stuff.

We’ve discovered this is broken recently with FluentSMTP – we don’t know if this is due to a change with Fluent SMTP, WS forms or Postmark but it is a Fluent SMTP plugin issue as I’ve replicated the issue on multiple sites and tested other plugins that send via postmark and they don’t have the same issue.

    To replicate we:

    • Fill out a contact form
    • Reply to the email in our email programme
    • Check the replied to address
    • It’s always the sending address not the reply to address.

If we swap out FluentSMTP for Postmark’s own email sending plugin and send a new contact form submission we have no issues with the email that is send – reply to works as expected

If we then switch back to Fluent for email sending the problem comes back.

It’s a very serious issue as clients will be replying to emails from customers thinking they are emailing them but the emails best case are going to a generic sending address and worst case are disappearing when they try to reply to something like [email protected].

This is potentially effecting 45 sites we manage and so we need to get to the bottom of this ASAP.

Here is the screenshot of my email notification settings in WSForms
