Hi! I installed the free/evaluation version of your plugin – it looks like you’re in the process of implementing exactly what we’re looking for! We are as a result currently using the version from the WP plugin repository (1.1). We setup a test mailbox, and single, public mailing group with 4-5 users to try it out. All send/receive settings seem to work fine (we are on BlueHost) – messages sent by any list member are sent to the other participants, etc.

    Two things we noticed:

    1) The shortcode [mailing_group_form] does display a subscription form, but after “Mailing Group” label, we see ‘No group available’, even though the list group we setup was ‘Public’. As a result, I can only manually subscribe users.

    2) When messages are recived by list subscribers, the ‘Reply-To’ field seems to be set to the actual sender’s eMail address, and the ‘From’ is set to the list group email address. Other listserv engines typically place the actual sender’s eMail address in the ‘From’ field, and the list group address in the ‘Copy-To’ field. That way you get the following behavior:

Reply: Message is sent back to the originator (only)
Reply/All: Message is sent back to the originator, as well as the all list.

This behavior occurs by virtue of the fact that the listserv engine is included on the reply. The listserv typically does some dupe detection to prevent a copy of reply from being sent back to the originator (who already has a copy of it of course)

Any chance this package will ever work that way? Or perhaps I’m missing a configuration option where I can configure this?

    Thanks!

    Hi there!

    Thanks for your feedback.

For your point 2) we have already implemented this Reply-To functionality in the Premium version of the plugin already, and it will follow in the Free plugin’s next release version, which is due out this coming week (commencing July 6th).

For point 1), could you try the following shortcode, to see if that makes a difference?
    [mailing_group_form visibility=’Public’]

It should show all available active Public groups with the basic shortcode you used, so it will be useful for us to know how you get on with the more specific shortcode.

    Thank you again!
    Marcus.
