Reply-Comments are not displayed as reply-comments

If any user will reply to a comment the comment will displayed but not as a reply comment and without a left-padding (for example). Something going wrong there. What can the problem be? You can test it on the linked website.

We see what you mean. To confirm, if you disable Jetpack Comments, you no longer see this issue?

If so, does the problem persist if you use Jetpack Comments, but temporarily disable all other plugins except for Jetpack and use a default theme, like Twenty Sixteen?

Yes, if I disable Jetpack Comments the theme comments works with children comments.

I cant disable that plugins and the theme on my livesite so I tested it on my demosite and there it works with the same installation and plugins etc.

In the past all of the children-comments were not displayed although there were manually accepted by me. The reason was that (why the hell) all children comments was linked to an older article. I saw that in the backend which shows me on what article the new comment is. But on this older article there were not more comments. Very curiois. I dont know why.

To fix all of this (so I thought) I deleted the older article. But this dont fixed anything. Now as you can see all comments are “parent” comments and no children.

That was the hole story.

I’ve tested this issue on my site with a default theme – Twenty Fifteen. I do not see the issue like you mention here. I can see the nested comments (parent-child comments).

I suggest checking your theme to find out the possible causes.

Looking at the console of the browser, there are a couple of JavaScript issues. I think it’s a good start to resolve this issue.

I fixed the JavaScript issues but that wasnt the reason.

Can you give me tips besides deactivate plugins etc. what I should check on my theme? I dont know what I should do more now ??

Do threaded comments work on the demo site with both Jetpack comments enabled and disabled with your Examiner Child theme, or only when Jetpack comments are disabled?

Are you experiencing this issue on just the post you mentioned, or is this happening site-wide on your live site?

At what point did you make your demo site from your live site? Are there any changes you’ve made to your live site in the interim that may be related to this issue?

I made nothing other between the demo site and the live site. This just dont work on the live site since few weeks after that happended what I wrote above.

At the beginning the replys worked – till a new article which has normally have child answers but displayed only parent answers because all of the new replys were linked to another post for whatever reason. Since that all other comments on other posts behave the same like this.

I cant find the failure. Can it be that database works wrong or something?
