• On my website where readers make comments on my posts, my individual replies have stopped appearing under each individual reader’s comment.

Instead, all my replies are being stacked on top of each other at the bottom of the page.

Also, my replies are not being indented like they used to be.

How can this situation can be returned to normal?

    Hi @utgrad70,

It looks like the actual publish dates of the comments have been modified, since they’re all listed as being published yesterday. That means that something has been changed in the database fields themselves, and Hemingway doesn’t interact directly with the site database at all.

My best guess would be either that some plugin has modified them, or that the settings in Settings → Comments have been changed. There is a setting there for enabling and disabling threaded comments. I’d start by checking whether that option is activated.

The reason my replies all have the same date is that previously when I first replied to commenters, I did not like having my responses being stacked at the bottom, so I deleted all my responses.

But after being unable to find a fix on my own, I retyped all my responses on the same day before posting in this forum because, as the adage says: A picture is worth a thousand words.

As for the “enable threaded (nested) comments” setting, it is and has always been activated.

@utgrad70 I’m getting a JavaScript error when visiting your site, and the JavaScript error causes the comment-reply.min.js script (which WordPress uses to handle replies to comments) to break. I’m not getting the error when running Hemingway on the demo site or on my development environment, so I’m guessing it’s related to a plugin.

It looks like you have some sort of plugin for enabling Facebook comments on your site. I would try disabling it, and see if the reply form shows up below a comment when you click on the “Reply” link.

    It’s fixed!
Going by your suggestion, I looked on my dashboard and the only plugin that looked like it might have something to do with Facebook was Super Socializer which provides a Facebook button and other social buttons for people to share posts with.

I deactivated Super Socializer, then reactivated it…and that fixed the problem.
    Thanks for the clue, Anders.
