• Hi!

I have embedded a (test) web story in my WordPress post.

After the story comes to it’s end, I would like to give user the opportunity to replay the story (and/or navigate back).

But on all devices and browsers I have tested it cannot be achieved, it seems.

If the post URL is reloaded the story goes right to the end …

(Sending visitors to the https://kolmok.xyz/web-stories/792 URL has the controls I am looking for, yet I would like to keep visitors on the post.

In addition, on my mobile on https://kolmok.xyz/web-stories/792 the controls are only visible in landscape mode).

Thus, how do I replay an embedded webstory?

    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Hi there, @markva ! Thank you for posting your topic.

I have embedded a (test) web story in my WordPress post.

After the story comes to it’s end, I would like to give user the opportunity to replay the story (and/or navigate back).

While we do not currently support navigation controls for embedded stories, there is an open feature request for consideration here.

In addition, on my mobile on https://kolmok.xyz/web-stories/792 the controls are only visible in landscape mode).

What you are experiencing is expected behavior. When directly going to the story URL on mobile, there are no navigation controls. Our stories don’t support landscape mode, so when you view it in landscape on mobile it will look similar to what you get on a desktop.

(Sending visitors to the https://kolmok.xyz/web-stories/792 URL has the controls I am looking for, yet I would like to keep visitors on the post.

This plugin offers a dedicated “Web Stories” block that does exactly what you are looking for with wanting to keep visitors on the post. Embedding Stories using the block opens the story in a lightbox that you can close to simply return to the post.

    What about REPLAY?

@markva I can see the replay button when viewing your story on desktop (see screenshot).

Thanks, yes. Mobile is my issue, I strongly believe some sort of replay button would be great. Next and previous can be done with mouse or tap. Replay is absent it seems.

@markva These navigation controls will not be available on mobile devices for Stories. Navigation between pages on mobile is a different experience than on desktop where the pages will be tappable to go forward/backward and swipe to go to the next/previous story.
