Replacing HTML with WordPress

  • I currently have an HTML website, but would like to replace it with a WordPress installation. I am not sure how to do this. For example, my current HTML website can be accessed at mydomain.com. The WordPress installation I would like to replace it with can currently be accessed at mydomain.com/wordpress. How can I make it so the WordPress installation can be accessed at mydomain.com? I am new to the web world, so please be detailed! Thank you!

  • mydomain.com/wordpress will destroy the link juice. Furthermore, the word “wordpress” in slug will make the url bigger and it is said that bigger urls, complex urls are not that good. That mydomain.com/wordpress location is only useful if you are abandoning or giving less value to your old website as a strategy, but want to keep the contents.
    As it is your head, chop it in the way you want ??

    Well, of all days you shouldn’t be considering installing WordPress today AT ALL. I’ve four simple words for you… DO NOT DO IT. Don’t get me wrong WordPress is nice but just not today. Read before posting… They just updated to version 3.5 and like NOTHING works. Give it a week and then if you want to switch over you should be fine. ??
