Replacing Google XML Sitemaps with Yoast
-
This is not a problem but rather a question. I want to change our main site, from Ithemes Builder Seo and Google XML Sitemaps to Yoast only. I did this on another site and when I activated the Yoast plugin it told me to deactivate Google Sitemaps to avoid conflicts with multiple sitemaps. In search console for that site, https://www.alabamaexpungementattorneys.com this other site – only one sitemap appears and it appears to be the old one since it appears to have all the indexing so it looks like Yoast didn’t create one.
My question: When I add this plugin to our site and deactivate Google XML Sitemaps, what happens to the sitemap that’s already there? The site is several years old and the Google sitemap has most of the pages indexed. Will I loose all indexing? Should I delete the old sitemap?
Thanks Much
Mike
