    Hi everyone,

I am redesigning the current website on another hosting account and now I want to import the pages into the existing website to replace them and wanted to know as I am replacing the existing the current website should I be deleting everything first? Or should I import everything using a plugin and then delete the stuff I do not want anymore?

Because the current website is an Ecommerce website I will need to keep the orders information. But I know I can back this up and then import it again.

    Many thanks

First, create a full backup of the site (Files and database).

If you are extending the information of the site, import the new content. Are you keeping the current content in your site?

    Hi there,

No I am not keeping the current content. I would like to replace all the pages and posts with the new content.

How can I simmply delete all the existing content?

    Many thanks.

The orders are mixed in with other content, so you cannot simply blank out relevant tables. The safest way is to (after making a full backup) extend each post type’s list table to display 99 posts per page (via screen options, 99 is the max). Then use bulk actions to delete all posts listed on the page. This way you can selectively not delete certain pages if you’re so inclined.

You can do this before or after migration, but to avoid gigantic migration files, I’d do it before migration, but after a full backup.

    Thanks Bcworkz,

Are you referring to the database tables?

    Many thanks.

If you want to delete all content, log into the Administration, and delete the posts/pages.
