I am currently using UM free version to set user roles, permissions, and customized registration form per user role, as well as custom profiles for user roles.

I’m looking for an alternative that does all of that, and allows for assigning specific user roles as “group managers” to sign up new members into that group, so basically teams or groups. I am not sure if profilegrid is what I am looking for and cannot find a specific use case in the promo details so I decided to ask for a specific answer.

Ideally, I have a Team (or group) Leader role. I have a Team Member role. I want Leaders to be able to direct prospective members to a single Team Member registration form so when they register, paid or free, they are assigned to that Leader’s team or group.

That said, I’m perfectly fine having them sign up as a Team Member and then having the Group or Team leader assign them to a group or having the new member assign themselves to a group. I am not sure the best way to go about it, but the bottom line is I want specific team leaders to have their OWN teams, and those Teams have certain permissions.

That’s the end goal so can any of that be accomplished using profilegrid without ultimate member, in place of ultimate member, or in conjunction with ultimate member?

But the social community, the front end blog posting, messaging, following and all of that is fantastic and would make it that much better.

Also, I’m considering using WPFORO for a member’s only forum as it does play nice with UM. If profilegrid should be best used as a UM replacement, meaning it does all of the above I am using UM for, is there anything in profilegrid that works similar to a forum or can it play nice with WPFORO?

Thanks, and I appreciate any clarification on this plugin.

  • Hi @delanataylor,

Each ProfileGrid group is associated with one registration form. You may create a different registration form for each group. Once the user registers on-site using a registration form, the user becomes a member of the associated group automatically. Users may join multiple groups after login on site later. The administrator may assign a manager to each group and then the manager can manage the group members.

The extension “Advanced Grup Manager” Enhances Group Manager privileges, allowing them to manage/ moderate users and contents inside their respective groups, from the Frontend control panel. For details, please visit the link: https://profilegrid.co/multi-group-users-and-group-manager/

Currently, ProfileGrid does not have integration with wpForo. We have taken a note and forwarded it to the development team for possible inclusion in future updates. As of now, it provides integration with bbPress forums.

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
