    Hi,

This is really frustrating me to the max!

I have been using your plugin for years now and love it. I am very down with everything it can do and know my way around it. I’ve had to learn all the tricks of the trade to get rid of those annoying warnings in red.

However, this time nothing is working and it seems it’s since I ticked the MOD security option at my hosts WHM center.

I have since unticked the box but still this warning appears…

BPS Alert! Your site may not be protected by BulletProof Security
The BPS version: BULLETPROOF .xx.x >>>>>>> SECURE .HTACCESS line of code was not found at the top of your Root htaccess file.
The BPS version line of code MUST be at the very top of your Root htaccess file.
Click Here to go to the BPS Setup Wizard page and click the Setup Wizard button to setup the BPS plugin again.
Important Note: If you manually added other htaccess code above the BPS version line of code in your root htaccess file, you can copy that code to BPS Root Custom Code so that your code is saved in the correct place in the BPS root htaccess file.
Click Here to go to the BPS Custom Code page, add your Root custom htaccess code in an appropriate Root Custom Code text box and click the Save Root Custom Code button before running the Setup Wizard again.

    I have placed that bit of code at the top of the Root folder as such;

    BULLETPROOF .52.8 >>>>>>> SECURE .HTACCESS

I finally get the green light but then as soon as I click a link boom it’s back again…arrrgh….tearing my hair out!

I’ve tried the Wizard and it produces green lights all the way!
But again as soon as a link is clicked it turns to custard.

Is it possible that the host’s cache has to clear and that it’s not recognizing that I’ve removed MOD security? What could be causing this please. It is definitely a host Vs Plugin issue, as all my other sites have also generated the same warnings and these were fine.

    Kind Regards
    Dave Forester

If you have a CGI server type you can lock your root htaccess file on the htaccess File Editor tab page to prevent the root htaccess file from being automatically changed by something else. If you have a DSO server type then you will not see the Lock root htaccess file button on the htaccess File Editor tab page and you will not be able to lock your root htaccess file to prevent something else from automatically changing it.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late response, got pulled away.

Whilst I love your plugin, in the meantime with all sites going red and after much thought I went in search of an alternative.

I checked the tests on other plugins and for now have deleted and gone to another plugin. The new one, although not problem free is way easier to use and to be frank I just got tired of seeing all of those red flags.

If you should ever make this plugin more self adjusting and easier to use I may return to BPS, for now I am opting for the firewall approach and hoping for the best. Thanks for your assistance.

Sorry to hear that the BPS plugin is not compatible with your particular Host or something that you have installed on your website/server. Thanks for letting me know that this thread can be resolved.

    Hi,

Something in the host changed, as all sites went red at once so you must be right, never mind, these things happen. Happy to try again some time.

    Kind Regards
