Repetitive loop with blank screen and “Done” button on mobile
-
A bunch of different issues, but here’s a screen recording of the main issue: https://youtu.be/AOFLjS4LgDo
Basically, with Safari on iOS 12 (on an iPhone S6 Plus that also has the Facebook and Messenger apps installed), hitting the Chat button sends the browser into a repetitive loop, which opens up a blank page that has only a “Done” button on it. Tapping Done brings the user back, where they can hit Chat again, and get dumped into the same loop.
This happens while I’m logged in to Facebook in my browser. For some reason, the initial window of the chat plugin doesn’t show that I’m logged in, however. If I log out before attempting this, I’m instead presented with a screen offering to open the Messenger app, which works as it should.
I also tested this on an iPhone 5S — same browser, same OS — and did NOT have this problem. I should note, however, that neither the Facebook app nor Messenger app are installed on this device, although I am logged in to Facebook in the browser.
Performing this same test with Chrome on the same devices works fine.
Secondary issue: using Chrome on an Android device, the Messenger icon does not appear at all. The icon will appear if I force Chrome to load the desktop version of the site.
All apps on all devices above are up to date as of today.
