• Hello,

Is there any possibility to add a feature so when I insert the same footnote later in the text to not increase number? – let’s say I repeat number 1: to insert again 1, instead of 2?

    Hi there,

That’s one of the more requested features and one that could be added. There’s no timeline for it at this time though.

One problem here are the backlinks from the footnote list at the end to jump back to the text position of the fn. I think it would be better style to create a new footnote saying something like “click and read footnote 1 again, then jump back here” which gives you the chance to click it and jump to all the footnotes at the end, re-read fn1 and click the other backlink to jump back to the correct text position. Of course, this means you need to adjust the text if you later insert a new footnote before the first, which becomes fn2 then. But that also is true for the “repeat footnote” method of the original poster, where you also somehow have to refer to the existing footnote. The problem in both methods can only be avoided if footnotes can be referred to by an optional fixed given name (that will never change after referring to it) instead of their position (which is always prone to later changes).
