Repeating Error Filling Server Logs

    This error repeats until the logs fill the server’s disk space. No idea what to do about it. Any help, deeply appreciated.

    Yoast SEO installed on WPMS – 40 sites, none get much traffic. The URL listed below is one of many that fill the error logs. I’ve disabled WordPress SEO plugin sitewide – error still happens. I’ve deactivated other sites that were filling the logs faster – error moves to other sites/domains.

    I’ve been a Yoast SEO user for more than 10 years and have installed in hundreds of websites. First time problem. Help me resolve this, please.

    Hello Dawud,

    We are sorry about the over bloating of your error log. Can you please try resetting the indexables in the database tables by following the steps below?

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations’, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation’, and ‘Reset Internal link counter’ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that each reset was successful. Note: this won’t actually erase your SEO data, which is also stored in WordPress’ default tables. It’ll just reset our index (custom tables) for that data.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

    For your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before making important changes to your website.

    I had the same situation with a rapidly growing error log file on a website today. The repeating error caused the log file to grow to over 124 GB over several hours.

    Maybellyne, thank you for your response and the instructions for using the Yoast Test Helper plugin. I followed your instructions and the repeating errors are no longer filling the log file!

    Had to do this across all 62 sites – one-by-one – on my WPMS install. AND…it seems to have worked. No more errors being thrown. No more massive log files filling my server’s HD. Thank you.
