When subscribing to the calendar on our site (adding to Google, Outlook, Apple, other) the events that repeat are not added. We have an event on 10/28/2020 that repeats on 10/29 and 10/30. These events are not included when the calendar is added to Google, Outlook, Apple, etc.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @mila513,

I checked your calendar and the export URL file and it looks like the repeat event you mentioned is correctly listed in the file and export link.

I ran a test and exported your calendar to my Google calendar and the repeat event on 10/28/2020 does show up correctly and repeats on 10/29 and 10/30.

There may be a limit to the number of events that Outlooks allows you to import– check your outlook settings for that one.

    Hello Sunny,

The 10/28/2020 repeat event now appears when subscribing to the calendar. However, I tried adding a new repeat event to the calendar, then subscribed to the calendar (via Google) and the event did not appear. Is there a step that must be done for repeat events in order for them to appear when subscribing to calendars? I tried creating an event with a custom repeat selection. Please advise. Thank you!

    HI @mila513,

There is no other step to be done. Can you point out the specific event that is not appearing?

I just created an event titled Test Repeat Event. It starts on 2/11/19 and repeats on 2/12, 2/13, and 2/14. I go to https://www.worthingtonchristian.com/calendar/ and click Subscribe > Add to Google. The calendar is added to Google but the Test Repeat Event does not appear in my Google calendar. The event we originally had an issue with on 10/28/20, 10/29, and 10/30 is now showing up in Google. Nothing has changed with that event. Why aren’t repeat events immediately showing up when subscribing to the calendar? I appreciate you looking into this!

    Hi ,

The only thing I can confirm is that you calendar is correctly exporting the data for the repeat event and all events. Here’s the snippet of that event as it is exported to other calendars:

    BEGIN:VEVENT
    UID:[email protected]
    DTSTAMP:20190116T203824Z
    CATEGORIES;LANGUAGE=en-US:All-School
    CONTACT:
    DESCRIPTION:
    DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20190211
    DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20190212
    RDATE;TZID=America/New_York:20190212T000000
    RDATE;TZID=America/New_York:20190213T000000
    RDATE;TZID=America/New_York:20190214T000000
    SEQUENCE:0
    SUMMARY:Test Repeat Event
    URL:https://www.worthingtonchristian.com/event/test-repeat-event/
    X-COST-TYPE:free
    END:VEVENT

It appears that type of repeat you are using is custom repeat (RDATE). Try setting the repeat date using the regular recurring pattern (daily) and then re-export the events.

I created a new event titled Test Repeat Event and used the daily repeat pattern. The event starts on 2/20/19 and repeats every 10 days. I see the event listed when exporting the calendar, but it’s still not listed when adding to Google, Outlook, Apple. Are you seeing the event when you add to Google or any other platform?

    Hi @mila513,

    Thanks for the test.

The new “Test Repeat” event starting on Feb 20, 2019 now uses the RRULE tag.

I imported the calendar to Google and I do see the event in my Google calendar.
And it shows up correctly every 10 days as it should. This means that the calendar is correctly exporting the event data. Try removing the calendar and import it again into your Google calednar.
