Renders my site unavailable for several minutes

    I would love to have the security this plugin promises to deliver, however when I activate Wordfence, at random times, my site becomes unreachable/unresponsive. Both the WP-Admin Backend as well as the front facing website just go out to lunch. Some random amount of time later they will return to normal behavior but will eventually bomb again and again, then will return again and again.

    I know for a fact that it’s the Wordfence plugin causing this as I can only re-create the behavior when Wordfence is active.

    Frustrating.

    Can you elaborate on “go out to lunch”?

    Do you get a 500 internal server error?

    Site timeout?

    White screen?

    Or something else?

    We have not had this reported before so it sounds like something specific to your config.

    Also let me know if you’ve enabled caching.

    What I was seeing before was a site timeout. Since my original post, there have been a couple upgrades to WordFence. I’ve been able to leave it activated and things seem to be much more stable.

    I’ll evaluate this new version (5.1.1) and see if it holds up better.
