    Hi,
I’m actually using the official Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin on my blog.
I literally have hunderds and hundreds of AALB shortcodes in my blog posts.

Now, Amazon just sent an email stating that the Plugin is discontinued and it will stop working starting from March 9th 2020.

I’m looking for an alternative associate plugin to install on my site, but I would not manually edit all my articles in order to remove the old shortcodes and put new ones.

So, my question is: could your plugin read and parse AALB shortcodes and then display Amazon product anyway? If not, would it be an interesting feature to develop in order to convert literally thousands of blogs like mine to your plugin users base?

    Best regards,

    Nicola

    Hi,

    Sounds interesting.

If the shortcodes were inserted with their plugin block editor, it’s not going to be simple but if they were inserted with the Classic editor or the builtin shortcode block editor, it’s fairy simple to capture their shortcodes.

How did you insert the shortcode of them?

    (@nicolaottomano)

    @miunosoft in both way.

Old posts still use shortcode, while new ones – I mean after the upgrade to Gutenberg – use the same shortcodes but in the AALB block.

I can help in testing/debugging the new feature if needed.

You can see an example on how I inserted their shortcodes in my articles.
See the bottom of this page:

Okay, you can download the development version 3.11.0b01.

Make sure the plugin is connected to Amazon Product Advertisement API (PA-API) by setting your keys in Dashbord -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings.

    Then follow these steps.

    1. Go to Dashbaord -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> 3rd Party.
    2. Check the Enable option under Amazon Associates Link Builder.
    3. Set default country (locale) and Amazon Associates ID (tag) in the Default screen (Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Default).
    4. (optional) You might want to convert their templates to the ones supported by Amazon Auto Links. In that case, activate some Amazon Auto Links templates by going to Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Templates. Then reload the 3rd Party screen and you’ll find the activated templates listed in the Template Conversion option.

After you enable this option, you want to deactivate Amazon Associates Link Builder.

Let me know how it goes.

@miunosoft I followed all the suggested steps and… it works. :-O

I noticed that the plugin is not only taking the original ASINs but adds some other by its own. Is that correct?
Would it be possible to limit the list of products to the ones selected?

Another question: I will be glad to pay for a Pro license of your plugin, does it includes a slider template?

No. It shouldn’t add any extra products by its own. If it does, it could be a bug. Can you post the shortcode of it with the parameters? I’ll check.

Another question: I will be glad to pay for a Pro license of your plugin, does it includes a slider template?

Yes, the Carousel template comes with Pro, which is quite similar to the one included in AALB.

Of course, here a couple of examples:

    [amazon_link asins='B074T8L879,B007B9NXAC,B000IGW3JC,B000L0GSDC,B00CWNMXQW,B07BVK7G6V,B0031YLTSY' template='ProductCarousel' store='nicolaottom0d-21' marketplace='IT' link_id='ab5b6504-cfd2-40e9-91bc-b15ab90632f4']

    [amazon_link asins='B000J3TZKE,B005NJOKHW,B07W8VTP5X,B002C2IF1K,B07W6NN7PL,B0083TQSA6,B005NJOOXC' template='ProductCarousel' store='nicolaottom0d-21' marketplace='IT' link_id='9dd25df8-8c37-4060-94a1-e10f85593708']

Yes, the Carousel template comes with Pro, which is quite similar to the one included in AALB.

    Perfect! ??

    (@miunosoft)

Ops, I couldn’t test the Italian locale.

Can you tell me the ASINs of the extra products which are not specified with the asins parameter? Or you can point me to the problematic page with the shortcode so that I’ll check.

By the way, the development version 3.11.0b01 has some overhead when making API calls with the shortcode. So please use the new version 3.11.0b02 (the same link).

Just curious, have you switched this plugin to use the new API 5.0 already? (that is why the official plugin can’t be used after March 9)

    @miunosoft

I enabled your plugin (the new beta2) on my site.
Please check the bottom of this page:
    https://www.nicolaottomano.it/2019/01/11/kit-chitarra-elettrica-economico-rockjam-rjeg02-sk-clone-fender-stratocaster-recensione/

This is the shortcode I used on the page:

    [amazon_link asins=’B01M66OZ0V,B01M6ZH0AW,B014WEJF6E,B01MRI3920,B00ATO664Q,B0010YU4LK,B0078P06Y0′ template=’ProductCarousel’ store=’nicolaottom0d-21′ marketplace=’IT’ link_id=’05577c37-ed0c-11e8-837a-ed33984bb3c6′]

As you can see, I selected 7 ASINs but the plugin displays more links.

If you need more info, please give me your email address, so we can continue in pvt.

@nicolaottomano It looks like you have auto-insert outputs. Go to Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Manage Auto-insert and turn off all items there.

@joyously It’s been so since the date of what they initially announced as the end of PA-API 4.

You are right! I enabled an auto-insert by mistake!
