    If I check: inline “above the fold CSS” while loading the main autoptimized CSS only after page load, does that defer it even though I don’t have any above the fold CSS to enter or is there another way to solve the original issue in the first post?

    it does, but you’ll have some heavy “FOUC” (flash of unstyled content), so consider adding “above the fold CSS” (more info in the AO FAQ)
