Renamed page don’t update in side

Hello,

Are you using the Pro version? If so, you will have a field on your edit page screen which allows you to set the title in the menu. If you change the page title and not update this field, the title will not change.

If you are not using the Pro version, let me know and I will help you troubleshoot.

Okay, I disabled that as it didn’t make much sense to me. But why doesn’t it just follow the page title and update if updated?

I’m using the Pro version.

The idea here is you can change the link title to whatever you want without worrying about what the page title is set to or if the page title changes.

I do think it would be neat to have an optional setting which automatically changes any link title when the title changes (only when they were originally the same). I’m going to put it on the board for future possibles.

I could not agree more as this is already default behaviour for “Pages” and “Menu” in WordPress. Meaning that when a page title is changed in WordPress it does also update in “Menu” navigation unless the Menu item has previously been altered.

I really hope this could be a “soon to come” option in your plugin.

I wanted to pop in to say that this feature will make the version 2.3.0 release of this plugin.

We decided not to do the setting, but instead to discontinue the setting of the menu title based on the page title. The upcoming version will instead use a placeholder so you may see what the link will be, but not actually set any value unless it is updated manually. This way, if you don’t set a value, the link’s title will not be filtered.

This will allow changing the page title to also update the link’s title when the link title has not been previously changed.

It is worth noting that any page that has previously been created while Advanced Sidebar Menu Pro was active will already have a value set and the link title value must be removed manually to have the link title change with the page title.
