    Hi,

Just wanted to say I love your plugin. I’ve been using it for a while now with success after a brute force attack on my site. I’ve now updated to version 1.8 and also updated my word press to version 3.8 and unfortunately now when going to my changed wp-login url i get a not found page:

‘NOT FOUND Apologies, but we were unable to find what you were looking for. Perhaps searching will help.’

To login back in to my word press I had to delete the ‘rename wp login’ plugin folder. I tried re-installing the plugin with no success. I’ve also tried disabling all my other installed plugins again with no luck.

Anyway help would be greatly appreciated as now I’m back using my standard wp-login my site is being brute forced again!

    Cheers
    Troy.

I’ve tested the plugin on several website with WordPress 3.8 and it works fine. Are you sure the slug for your login page is still the same? If you remove and reinstall the plugin, the slug will automatically be set to /login/ again.

    Hi Janneke,

Thanks for getting back to me. When I reinstalled it didn’t reset to the default /login/ but the alternative address i was using before.

I’ve now just tried /login/ (even though in wp it is set to something else) and it works giving me the option to login. If I now change the address to something else eg. /test/ it works which is great but if i use the address i used to use it doesn’t work? Strange! Anyway I’ll change it to another address to resolve the issue.

    Thanks again,
    Troy.

What is the slug you used before? Do you have any pages or posts with that slug? It’d be useful to know why that happens.

The slug I used was /wp-login2/ and no I don’t have posts with that in it. Could it have been when I had to deleted the ‘rename wp login’ plugin folder?

Ah, that’s because the plugin now blocks anything that has domain.com/*wp-login*/ because in some server configs wp-login.php is not enough as wp-login would still be accessible. I’ll consider only blocking those two instead of anything that matches *wp-login*.

    Thanks!

    Ok that makes sense.
Thanks again for your help Janneke. Really appreciate it.

Actually, I think I’ll just prevent people form choosing anything that contains wp-login. I’ll change this with he next version.

I’ve fixed this in version 2.0 by not allowing urls that contain wp-login.
