After installing the iTSec plugin 4.6.6 in WP 4.1 activate it.
Next enable Permalinks in WP (if not already enabled).
Then click on the Security menu option.
In the “Important First Steps” popup screen click on the “Make a backup” and “Allow File Updates” buttons. Then close the popup screen.
Click on the Settings tab and goto the “Hide Login Area” section.
Tick the “Enable the hide backend feature.” checkbox.
Finally enter your secret “Login Slug” (default wplogin).
Last but not least click on the “Save All Changes” button.

    Well, this is not true.

    The Admin URL is wp-admin

    the Login URL is wp-login

You can though make that wp-admin won’t redirect to wp-login for a non logged user, but once in the admin area, the URL will always be wp-admin

Did I explain my concern correctly?

I think this needs a update in advertisement

it is NOT possible to renale wp-admin by WP Standards.

Yes, everything I said in my previous update is true. But I realize now that it is not the answer to your question. But that doesn’t mean the information I posted is not true.

I think this is a matter of interpretation. Sometimes it is required to read between the lines … your native language is probably not English is it ?

You think iThemes is talking about the WP Dashboard URL used AFTER login, I explained in my previous post how you can change the WP Dashboard URL used BEFORE login.

And yes the iTSec plugin cannot rename the wp-admin URL used AFTER login.

But I think when you read the iThemes iTSec plugin description (also between the lines) you should ask yourself this question:

What would renaming the wp-admin URL AFTER login contribute to the security of WP ?

I think the answer to this question is far more obvious when renaming the wp-admin URL BEFORE login …
I’m not saying there is no point in renaming the wp-admin URL AFTER login.
Perhaps I’ll learn something new. Enlighten me … Share your wealth of knowledge on this topic …

    Hi,

Dwinden is completely correct. This feature detours against accessing your log in page via wp-admin. After you’re logged in it’s expected behavior to see wp-admin while in the back end.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
