rename wordpress subfolder

  • Hello – I installed wordpress and it was running just fine. I then renamed the directory it is installed in. The main blog page will load but I am unable to log in or access any subpages. Thanks for your help…

  • Rename the WordPress folder back to what you originally used.

    Log in.

    Go to Options->General. Set the two URI fields to what you will use as the new directory. Save the changes.

    Rename the WordPress folder to what you want it to be.

    Done.

    Thank you. That has worked except for the following oddity: when I load the blog there is only the text, no colors or formatting or layout. If I click back to the previous brower window, then forward to return to my blog, then the page appears correctly but I cannot login or load any subpages.

    (it worked perfectly before I renamed the WordPress folder)

    Renaming a folder is the same as moving the folder.

    The Moving WordPress instructions should tell you everything you need to know. Please report back and let us know if that works!
