I’ve generally used Chrome as my browser, but it’s been crashing my machine, so I switched to Safari. I wanted to log into the admin, so I manually typed the address because I’ve enabled the rename login page feature. The problem is in Safari I get the “You do not have permission to access this page. Please login and try again” message. I know I’m typing it correctly. I can get into the site on Chrome just fine, but can’t figure out why the rename function isn’t working on Safari. FWIW, I’m on 5.3.1 and don’t know if updating will fix the issue or make it worse.

    Hi @mininewbie,

Rename login page future works server side that consider browser URL to show the login page.

So techniacally I see less chance that the rename login page working on chrome do not work on safari.

You see the message “You do not have permission to access this page. Please log in and try again.” means you are trying access admin page not the login page.

Please cross check in another PC / device in chrome that url works or not ? hope it is not due to cache.

If still issue can you please share that url using https://pastebin.com/ burn after read option.

If yes also please do not forgot to change login slug once it is checked by me.

I mean logging into the admin function not a general WordPress login. Sorry about that!

I tested this on a different machine. When I tried Safari I got the same “you have to login” message. When I tried on Chrome I was able to get to the page and start logging in. But once I hit enter it told me that I had to have cookies enabled for WordPress.

So, I went in the admin using Chrome and disabled the rename function. When I went to the default login page on Safari, it was there and I could log in just fine.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi @mininewbie,

Ok, Let me create internal ticket to cross-check if rename login page do not work with safari.

Can you please let me know which safari browser you use.

Also make sure WP Security > Firewall > Blacklist > Ban user agents do not have Safari browser related any string there. Also cookies are enabled in safari.

    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 14_5) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/17.5 Safari/605.1.15
