Rename a file

    I have a file I have uploaded to a website, which has been downloaded by a number of people. The problem is i typoed (misspelled) the file name. What I want to do is to rename for source file (which is easy for me to do via my hosting CP) but then, of course, the renamed file cannot be downloaded because MD can’t find it. I know I could delete the file from MD then just upload the correct one, but I don’t want to lose the download count/statistics. Is there any under-the-hood way I can change the filename referenced in MD to the new file?

  • Hi heathy65,

    I’m not the developer, but maybe I can help. One thing you could do is just replace the file through the mdocs admin panel. If you select the Manage File option of the mdocs entry you want to fix, and then just re-upload the file with the corrected filename, then click the Update Document button at the bottom, it should happily point to the new file.
