• I switched hosting from WPEngine, and there is a plugin from WPEngine listed as “must use”. I can’t uninstall it or my site crashes. The database has been moved to the new host, and the site is up and running. Has anyone heard of WPEngine placing evil code in their plugins to tie you to them permanently?

I posted this question in another section of this forum when a user said all I had to do was delete the WPengine plugin folder. that’s when I found out that crashes the site. I re-installed it and everything was fine.

I re-posted this topic in another area, and apparently that post was deleted.

Also, does any know of a better WP forum, like a real one?

    thx
    f

Don’t know what you mean by that – this is the only www.remarpro.com forum – and it’s 100% volunteer. If you need “better” help, you could consider hiring someone – https://jobs.wordpress.net/

Well I posted this question in the Installation section as well, and it’s gone.
Better help? Maybe just something 1/2 way accurate, posts that don’t disappear, or something that doesn’t feel like a bunch of demons trying to sell you something. that’s all.
    thx though

I’m having the exact same issue.

I’ve asked wpengine how to remove them. we’ll see if they tell me.

remove the /wp-content/mu-plugins folder to get rid of the WP Engine specific plugins.

Not just the wpengine inside. Dump the entire mu-plugins.

    Worked for me.

Hi,Please can you tell me your experience hosting on wpengine…I am trying to migrate to it based on recommendations. I am at godaddy now..and my site crawls…Dunno what it will be like with a little traffice.
Please tell me your experience and what hosting is best for an ecommerce wordpress website with lots of images and products. Thanks

I’m sorry but we can’t hold discussions of hosting providers on these forums as they attract advertisement of all kinds.

If you have a problem with WordPress, or WordPress themes or plugins let us know.
