I remove the widgets into the column to “deactivate” as it clearly says to do:

Drag widgets from here to a sidebar on the right to activate them. Drag widgets back here to deactivate them and delete their settings.

But the still remain on the page, even after a refresh.

Any thoughts on why all the widgets remain? Is there another way to remove them?

    Thanks,

    Phil

    try:

-deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the culprit.

-switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

With some themes meta widgets will show until you add another other widget. Do you not want any widgets? No sidebar?

@kmessinger…yes we want some widgets. We just want some, like “meta”, gone. And they won’t go away.

Usually adding a widget will take away the meta. You don’t have to drag them off. If still a problem follow what t-p suggested.
