Removing Unwanted or items that are not needed

I am fairly new to WordPress so please bear with me. I will likely have more questions in the future.

I have a couple questions about removing items.

How do I remove unwanted items or items not need?

For example at the top of the page is a black field show the logged in user etc. Users will have no need to log in to my site or search it. So how can I remove this.

Also at bottom of my main page is:

I do not want or need this?

Lastly, how do I keep pages from being listed next to Home. I will want links there just not the two that are currently there. I asked this question in the Shuttle team forums, however it has been over a year since the last question was answered.
